Dan Laurin är en av vår tids mest omtalade blockflöjtister. Hans utpräglade klangmedvetenhet och scennärvaro har gjort honom berömd över hela världen. Dan har som interpret och skivartist med mer än fyrtio skivor i diskografin vunnit ett stort antal priser och utmärkelser, bland annat två Grammis. Han har en rikhaltig repertoar som sträcker sig från medeltida danser med balkaninspirerad improvisation via högbarockens finlir och finess fram till dagens krävande intellektuella musik mellan frijazz och noterad konstmusik. Med stor integritet och mod har Dan hävdat sitt instruments klangliga möjligheter och hans nyanserade uttryck och utmanande spelstil har inspirerat dagens kompositörer att skriva musik till honom. För sina tolkningar av nutida musik har Dan bland annat tilldelats Föreningen Svenska Tonsättares Interpretpris. 2001 mottog han medaljen ”Litteris et Artibus” av Carl XVI Gustaf, och 2011 tilldelades han Interpretpriset av Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien. Laurin är blockflöjtsprofessor vid KMH i Stockholm och ledamot vid Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien.
Dan Laurin is one of today’s most reknown recorder players. His distinguished awareness of sound and expression on stage has spread his name around the world. With a discographover 40 records, Dan has won many awards and prizes, among others two Swedish Grammis. His vaste repertory stretches from medieval dances with improvisations inspired by balcan tradition, over the refined finesse of the high baroque, to the intellectually demanding contemporary music between free jazz and notation. Dan has always challenged the possibilities of technique and sound variations with great integrity and courage, and his variety of expression has inspired many composers to write for him. His interpretations of contemporary music has rewarded him the Interpreter Prize of the Swedish Society of Composers as well as of the Royal Academy of Music of Sweden. In 2001 he received the Litteris et Artibus medal from King Carl XVI Gustaf. Presently Dan Laurin is the recorder professor at the Royal College of Music of Stockholm and fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
