Anna Paradiso Laurin

Född i Bari är Anna Paradiso cembaloprofessor vid musikhögskolan i Matera och Vetenskapsrådets konstnärliga forskare inom klavermusik. Hon har beskrivits av den internationella pressen som ”en av de mest framstående klaverspelarna i världen” idag, med konserter, både som cembalosolist och med olika ensembler, i Europa, USA, Japan, Taiwan, Hong-Kong och Libanon och med flertaliga skivinspelningarna för BIS. Efter hon flyttade till Sverige 2006 blev ett av hennes mål att främja svensk barockmusik i världen. För sina fem inspelningar av Johan Helmich Romans musik har hon belönats bl a med ”American Record Guide Critics Choice of the Year” (klaversonater) och, tillsammans med Dan Laurin, en Grammis. Anna är också filosofie doktor i antik grekiska och latin, med en avhandling (2005) om Ovidius Epistulae ex Ponto vid Università degli Studi di Bari med professorn Paolo Fedeli som handledare. Innan Anna satsade på en heltidkarriär som musiker undervisade hon i latin och antikens litteratur vid Oxford University, KTH och Stockholms universitet. Dock har Anna varit intresserad i humaniora och forskning även under de senaste åren: som Kungliga Musikaliska Akademiens Bernadottestipendiat 2019 forskade hon vid Uppsala universitet kring retorik, filosofi och uppförande praxis i barockmusik i 1700-talets Neapel. Under många år har hon turnerat med föreläsningar om klassisk retorik och barockmusik vid universitet i Europa, Asien och USA.
Born in Bari, Anna Paradiso is harpsichord professor at the conservatoire in Matera and artistic researcher within the field of keyboard-music for the Swedish Research Council. The international press describes her as as “one of today’s leading keyboard players”, with concerts, as a solo-harpsichordist and with numerous ensembles, in Europe, USA, Japan, Taiwan, Hong-Kong and Lebanon and with numerous recordings for BIS. After she moved to Sweden in 2006, one of her goals has been to promote Swedish baroque music in the world. For her five recordings with Johan Helmich Roman’s music she has obtained awards such as the “American Record Guide Critics Choice of the year” and, together with Dan Laurin, a Swedish Grammis.
Anna is also PhD doctor in ancient Greek and Latin, with a dissertation (2005) on Ovid’s Epistulae ex Ponto at Università degli Studi di Bari under the supervision of professor Paolo Fedeli. Before undertaking a full-time career as a musician, she taught Latin and classical literature at Oxford University, the Royal College of Technology of Stockholm and Stockholm University. Nevertheless, Anna has kept her interest for humanities and research even in recent years: as a Bernadotte Program laureate from the Royal Academy of Music of Sweden she was affiliated with Uppsala University to research into rhetoric, philosophy and performance practice in baroque music in 18th century Naples. With her lectures on classical rhetoric and baroque music she has toured over the years in many universities in Europe, Asia and USA.
